ANTONIA
CREW
Antonia’s sailing journey began at age 8 with her first lesson at the Chester Yacht Club, though her true introduction to the sport came even earlier—sailing a Laser with her dad when she was just 5. She raced Optimists at CYC until she was 12 before transitioning to the 420 as a helm. By 14, she was training year-round and eventually made the switch to the ILCA 6. In high school, she often missed classes on Fridays to train alongside Canadian national team members, as recruited by the national team coach at the time, Chris Cook.
After aging out of youth sailing, Antonia stepped away from competition to pursue her university education. She began in the Foundation Year Program at the University of King's College before transferring to Dalhousie University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Immunology and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. During summers, she coached junior sailors at the Chester Yacht Club and Indian Harbour Yacht Club in Greenwich, Connecticut, while also racing keelboats in Halifax and Chester. Though she initially planned to attend medical school, her path changed when Georgia convinced her to team up in the 49erFX and begin their campaign for the Paris Olympics.
Antonia and her sister made an immediate impact, finishing 6th at the 2021 49erFX World Championships in Oman. Shortly after, Antonia underwent knee surgery—a common challenge for 49erFX crews. Determined to return stronger, she wasted no time in rehab, driving herself to the pool to regain fitness and getting back in the boat just three months later.
The journey to Paris was filled with highs and lows. From learning how to become a world class athlete to breakthrough performances on the world stage, every challenge pushed them to their limits. Their defining moment came at the 2024 World Championships, where they finished 8th to secure Canada’s Olympic spot. The emotions of qualifying were overwhelming—years of dedication and sacrifice had finally paid off. Stepping onto the Olympic stage in Marseille was surreal, a mix of pride, gratitude, and the sheer thrill of competing against the best in the world. They ultimately finished 11th, a result that left Antonia wanting more. Antonia is determined to build on her experiences and push for the podium in LA 2028.
Committed to growing the sport, Antonia is passionate about inspiring and supporting the next generation of Canadian sailors while proudly representing her country on the international stage. Antonia is the first to raise her hand to help a developing sailor.
